NASCAR
I chose to do my ethnography essay on NASCAR after reading “The NASCAR Subculture” on e-college and the topic seem interesting to me. My roommate is also a big NASCAR fan, so I thought he would be a great person to talk to while I do my research. He is always watching NASCAR on television and has a Jeff Gordon chair in our room. He also always wears a Jeff Gordon T-shirt on race days. It seems like I am always asking him questions about the race and asking exactly what is going on. Hopefully after doing some research, I will have a better understand of the races and the culture associated with NASCAR. I thought it was funny how in the article on e-college it talks about how hard it is to understand the racecar drivers sometimes. The drivers sometimes talk in their own language. NASCAR fans are definitely a different type of people and are their own little culture. NASCAR fans are known for drinking and tailgating before races. NASCAR has all ready had two races this year and I believe there is plenty of information on NASCAR to write about. I think this will be a fun and interesting topic to do some research on for my ethnography essay.

As we discussed, this sounds like an interesting topic that is also accessible to you in your roommate. If you want to borrow the book that I used for "The NASCAR Subculture" essay, it's on my desk in my office. You're welcome to use it for additional information as long as it returns to the library. Since primary research is your focus, though, you may not need the outside source.
I just thought of an addition to my comment. You may also focus in on Jeff Gordon fans (since your roommate is one) to keep the topic from getting too broad. As you can see from the chapter we read, NASCAR fans can be a huge and overwhelming subculture.
